Benefits of Becoming a Member

3lb Bag of Worm Castings

As a token of our appreciation, all new PCF members will receive one 3lb bag of worm castings. Worm castings are the richest natural fertilizer known to humans. Just as little as a tablespoon of pure worm castings provides enough organic plant nutrients to feed a 6″ potted plant for more than two months. Worm castings stimulate plant growth more than any other natural product on the market. Unlike other animal manure and artificial fertilizers it is absorbed easily and immediately by plants. But Worm Castings don’t only stimulate plant growth: they also enhance the ability of your soil to retain water (because of its texture), and it even inhibits root diseases such as root rot.

If you’re interested in purchasing additional worm castings from PCF in bulk, you can purchase more through our online store, or by visiting Rare Earth Goods in Ishpeming.

*We do not currently ship our worm castings, so whether you purchase online or in person, you will still need to pick up your order at Rare Earth Goods.*

Superior Seed Collection

Your membership will also include our Superior Seed Collection, which is selected and packaged by our Farm Manager, Ray Bush, in conjunction with our good friends at Transition Marquette County. The Superior Seed Collection is a bag of 14 different varieties of seeds adapted to growing in the local region, such as Siberian slicing tomato, Buttercrunch lettuce and dwarf blue-curled Scotch kale. It is possible to grow vegetables in weather as cold as Marquette’s seemingly sub-Arctic climate. And not only that, they can be heirloom and open-pollinated!

Your Superior Seed Collection bag will include:

- Contender Bush Bean - Siberian Slicing Tomato
- Dwarf Blue Curled Scrotch Kale - Scarlet Nantes Carrot
- Giant Nobel Spinach - Buttercrunch Lettuce
- Golden Summer Crookneck Squash - Table Queen Acorn Squash
- Cylindra Beet - Coriander/Cilantro Slow Bolt
- Basil, Genovese - Sweetie Cherry Tomato
- Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce - Marconi Red Pepper
