Learn More About PCF’s Impact This Growing Season

PCF’s Commitment To Food Access and Equity

Partridge Creek Farm is committed to increasing our communities' access to fresh, local and healthy food. The city of Ishpeming has limited access to fresh affordable food, categorizing this community as a food desert. To combat food insecurity and provide equitable access to food, PCF accepts the food assistance benefits listed below. PCF is excited to announce that they are one of the only organizations in Ishpeming’s West End that accepts Food as Medicine Vouchers, further increasing access to affordable food.

This season, food assistance sales accounted for 63% of our total Farm Stand sales, highlighting the community's urgent need for nutritious food.

Feeding Our Community

Throughout the growing season, which commenced on June 26th, the West End Farm Stand has offered the community a chance to purchase fresh, seasonal produce grown and harvested right in downtown Ishpeming. So far this year, an impressive 3,500 pounds of food has been harvested for the community. PCF’s produce supports local residents through the farm stand, donations to local organizations, the CSA program, and wholesale distribution.

The 2024 growing season marks the inaugural year of Partridge Creek Farm’s West End Farm Stand. This season has proven remarkable, with a significant increase in weekly visitors. To date, the Farm Stand has served roughly 500 community members. The opening day of the Farm Stand also coincided with the launch of PCF’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and the first Community Skill Share of the season.

2024 CSA Subscription Success

PCF has successfully expanded its CSA program, welcoming 6 new subscribers, bringing the total of CSA subscribers to 31 families. Over the course of 15 weeks, these families have received a total of 404 boxes of fresh produce. The CSA program accepts SNAP as a payment option, facilitating access for more families, resulting in a total of 85 SNAP CSA boxes distributed this year.

As Partridge Creek Farm prepares for its final Farm Stand of the season, the organization looks forward to celebrating a successful year of fostering community engagement and access to fresh, local produce. The commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the Ishpeming community, and PCF invites everyone to join in this final event and shop.
