Intergenerational Fun! Ishpeming High School CTE students join Ishpeming Senior Center to Plant Trees

On Saturday May 24 the Ishpeming Lions Club planted fruit/nut trees at the Partridge Creek Community Farm! While community members got to take home a tree of their own, the Lions Club made sure to set aside a few trees for a fun intergenerational activity!
Ishpeming High School Flipping the Food System CTE (career technical education) Horticulture class taught by PCF’s Keats Dormont joined the Ishpeming Senior Center for a fun field trip to plant trees. The CTE class made compost extract and added mycorrhizal fungi spores to inoculate the roots and soil around the new trees with beneficial microbes.
The goal of this tree planting day was to engage all ages of community members in hands-on work with our food system!
