PCF Begins Construction on a Second Hoophouse to Increase Food Production

In fall of 2023 PCF’s growing team began construction on the first ever 30’x72’ hoophouse on the Partridge Creek Community Farm. Now, two years later, PCF’s growing team is working hard once again to construct a second hoophouse that will sit directly behind the existing one.
This additional hoophouse will boost Partridge Creek Farm’s capacity to provide fresh food to Ishpeming. These hoophouses will help extend our growing season from March to November, compared to outdoor growing from late May to mid-October. PCF will begin growing in this space in Spring of 2026.
The addition of a second hoophouse on the Partridge Creek Community Farm was made possible through the Natural Resources Conservation Service Environmental Quality Incentives Program (NRCS-EQIP) grant through the US Department of Agriculture.
Learn More about Food Access and the Community Farm
The Community Farm
The Community Farm is a 3.75 acre farm centrally located in downtown Ishpeming. 2.75 acres are designated for intergenerational community programs and educational facilities, featuring amenities such as a produce cooler, a produce washing and packing structure, and Jasperlite Community Garden Beds.
In 2024 we celebrated the first growing season on the site. Also in 2024, PCF opened the West End Farm Stand on the site to help increase the communities access to healthy, fresh, and affordable food.
