In November, staff from Partridge Creek Farm, Marquette-Alger RESA, Northwoods Test Kitchen, and MSU Extension embarked on a two-day journey downstate (downstate is what us yoopers call the Lower Peninsula). This collaborative trip aimed to unite Partridge Creek Farm's Food Futures Lake Michigan School Food Systems Innovation Hub Award recipients and provide valuable insights from organizations actively engaged in food processing for Farm-to-School programs.

This group explored the Muskegon Career Tech Center, Kalamazoo ValleyHUB, and 9 Bean Rows Farm to deepen their understanding of farm-to-cafeteria food processing. The visit fostered collaborative relationships aimed at strengthening food systems across communities in Michigan.

The Food Futures Project

During the summer Partridge Creek Farm alongside Northwoods Test Kitchen, MSU Extension, Marquette- Alger RESA, and Chartwells received the Lake Michigan School Food Systems Innovation Hub Award for their Food Futures Project.

This project will enhance access to locally grown produce from Partridge Creek Farm by incorporating it into the cafeterias of Negaunee and Ishpeming school districts, through a partnership with Northwoods Test Kitchen and Chartwells.
