Collaboration builds community! Thank you to The United Presbyterian Church for their generous support during the 2024 growing season!

The Jasperlite Community Garden is located behind the Jasperlite Senior Housing Center in Ishpeming’s West End. This community garden site serves as a dedicated space for Jasperlite Community Members. It offers an opportunity for individuals to learn gardening skills while fostering connection and collaboration within their community.

The 2024 growing season marked the first season of the Jasperlite Community Garden, and Partridge Creek’s Intergenerational Farm Manager, Allison Stawara called on our community for volunteers to help prepare the site for its first season. The United Presbyterian Church in Ishpeming connected with Partridge Creek Farm through a wonderful PCF community member, and they were willing to provide help for this site. Partridge Creek Farm is grateful for their help this growing season!

2024 Support At The Jasperlite Community Garden

In 2024 Partridge Creek Farm celebrated their first growing season at the Intergenerational Farm, which also marked the first season Jasperlite Residents could rent beds in the Jasperlite Community Garden. With such a busy season ahead of us PCF reached out to our community for support with this garden site.

The United Presbyterian Church answered our call for support by generously awarding PCF with a grant which allowed us to purchase the fencing, tools and transplants for Jasperlite, while also helping to cover the cost of water for those beds!

Not only did they offer their support through a grant, they also rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at the site. These volunteers assisted with the installation of the fencing that surrounds the garden, and they helped with planting efforts in the spring.

We are especially grateful for one of the church members who connected PCF with United Presbyterian and volunteered throughout the season to help with weeding and maintaining the space!

Future Support and Collaboration

In 2025 PCF plans to continue to steward this space and work on beautification along the exterior of fence that surrounds the garden site with perennial landscaping.

Partridge Creek Farm works hard during the spring to grow our own transplants and will be planning for the funding, growing, and actual volunteer day to get these transplants into the garden site at the beginning of the 2025 growing season. We are grateful for the support of community organizations such as United Presbyterian Church and look forward to further collaboration in 2025!
