PCF Concludes a Successful Season of Volunteer Days
Final Weekly Volunteer Day | Celebrating Community Impact
On October 24th, volunteers gathered with PCF staff at The Intergenerational Farm for the final Weekly Volunteer Day of the 2024 growing season. Together, they cleared crops and prepared the farm for the winter months ahead.
Volunteer Impact
This season, a total of 24 dedicated volunteers—including many who returned week after week—contributed their time and energy at The Intergenerational Farm and PCF Garden Sites to support a successful growing season and help bring 3,500 lbs of fresh affordable produce to Ishpeming’s West End.
Collectively, these volunteers gave 61 hours of service, making a lasting impact on our sites and in the community!
Volunteer Projects
This season, volunteers played a vital role in thinning carrots, beets, and celery, allowing the crops to thrive and ultimately nourish the community through our Farm Stand, CSA Boxes, donations, and wholesale channels.
Additionally, volunteers assisted in removing and managing invasive species from both The Intergenerational Farm and the School Garden, contributing significantly to soil health improvements at these sites.
We are very grateful to each of our incredible volunteers, for their dedication and hard work throughout this growing season! Their support at the garden sites and farm has been invaluable, and has been essential in making this first season on the Intergenerational Farm a success!
