Mary Andronis (L) and Shana Donnner (R) attend the Queen City Seed Swap.

On Saturday April 4th, over 100 Marquette County community members braved the cold and attended the 2026 Queen City Seed Library Seed Swap, at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. Community members were invited to bring open pollinated seeds that were not licensed or patented to share, although bringing seeds was not required. This event was open to anyone who was interested in learning more about gardening in our area.

The seed swap also featured a presentation by local seed saver Ray Bush on the topic of combining Winter Sowing and Snail Roll Seed starting methods

The Queen City Seed Library is a volunteer-run community organization that has been providing seeds to anyone who would like to start a garden and learn to harvest and save seeds since 2015.Thanks to volunteers, the Seed Library cabinet on the main floor of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette is stocked for this gardening season. If you were unable to attend the Seed Swap, please visit the Seed Library cabinet at the Peter White Public Library. You can also bring seed donations to leave in the basket on top of the cabinet.
